The Curse of Monkey Island (in English The Curse of Monkey Island) is the third chapter of the Monkey Island saga and was produced in 1997. After 6 years (and despite the ending of the second episode predicting a definitive conclusion) Guybrush Threepwood returns in a new adventure, this time dominated by the cartoon style and equipped with high quality spoken audio. In this chapter Guybrush soon manages to reunite with Elaine by giving her a ring, accidentally recovered in the hold of LeChuck's ship. Unfortunately he will discover that he has placed a voodoo curse on his beloved, imbued in the ring, which transforms her into a solid gold statue. The two parts of the adventure are immediately clear: recovering Elaine who, under the guise of a golden artefact, was promptly stolen and, obviously, breaking the curse. Also in this chapter, Guybrush will be able to make use of Voodoo Lady's precious advice. In 2007, LucasArts published a new version of "Curse of Monkey Island", identical in all respects to the 1997 version, but fully functional, without having to use any emulator, on current systems and computers.
