Adventure did not end in the nineties. From the revival of the 2000s to more recent productions, choose a route through fairy tales, investigations, futuristic worlds and unexpected journeys. A selection to explore, not a ranking.
Classics includes original adventures and their reissues, including Special Editions. New routes features new stories, including Tales and Return to Monkey Island.
How we distinguish the two routes
Classics collects original games released through 2004; New Routes covers those from 2005 onward. This is an editorial boundary to help navigate the catalogue: adventure games went through a decline and revival, but never disappeared entirely.
The adventure’s first release counts, not a reissue date: remasters, remakes and Special Editions remain with the original game. Sam & Max Hit the Road (1993) therefore belongs to Classics; the three Telltale seasons (2006–2010) belong to New Routes.
