A familiar mansion, a different palette

Maniac Mansion Deluxe revisits Dave and his friends’ adventure with 256-colour graphics without turning it into a sequel. LucasFan Games made this free fan remake with Adventure Game Studio. It is separate from both the original Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle Remastered.

At a base resolution of 320×200, it adds more shades, a nine-verb interface and illustrated inventory inspired by Day of the Tentacle, continuous music and digital effects. The mansion retains its exploration and puzzles; the new presentation does not imply a redesign without deaths or dead ends.

How to play

ScummVM recognises it as ags:maniacmansiondeluxe. Use a recent stable ScummVM and the remake’s game data: the interpreter does not download the game. Official compatibility and AGS documentation describe the files. For an extracted copy, choose Add Game and select its data folder, not a shortcut. Owning Day of the Tentacle Remastered is not required for this remake.

LucasFan Games’ original website is historical. We link documentation and collection sources rather than claiming that an installer found elsewhere has been tested.
